A Shout Out to Pink

One of the things that I like the most in a musical artist is that they stay true to themselves regardless of the "process".  I call the "process" the producers, record labels, and all of the people who are so money focused that they could care less about the creative aspect or the artist and the message they want to communicate.  I love Pink, because not only does she go against the grain and do her own thing, but she is true to herself.  She doesn't allow the pressure of what everyone wants to sway her and want she wants to say.  The song "Perfect" is amazing because it gets to the nitty gritty of what life has become and the pressures we all face.  I think she stands for independence, and genuine creativity...and the best thing is, even that she doesn't do for the sake of the trend because she was going against the grain even before it was cool to go against the grain.

Music to My Ears

So, lately, I have been on this crazy health binge that is all about eating right and exercising.  I have been working out at LA Fitness, and there is one thing that has become absolutely apparent: music is the most essential part of my workout.  It energizes me, keeps me going, and it also distracts me.  After a while of listening to the same songs (I have a habit of putting my playlists on repeat for far too long), it is time to download something new to revitalize my work outs.  So I spent a pretty decent amount of time putting together a new playlist, and I thought I would share it.  This is a great mix for working out if you like pop and hip hop (I switch through genres like crazy, currently pop/hip hop is where I'm at):

"Blow" Ke$ha
"Coming Home" P Diddy
"Lose Yourself" Eminem
"Just a Dream"  Nelly
"No Scrubs" TLC
"Hot Tottie" Usher
"Hold it Against Me" Britney Spears
"Like a G6" Far East Movement
"Club Can't Handle Me" Flo Rida
"Body Language" Jesse McCartney
"What Would You do" City High
"My Love" Justin Timberlake
"Cleanin' Out My Closet" Eminem
"Fergalicious" Fergie
"Tik Tok" Ke$ha
"Replay" Iyaz
"Doo Wop (That Thing)" Lauren Hill
"#1" Nelly
"Live Your Life" Rihanna/TI
"Till the World Ends" Britney Spears
"We R Who We R" Ke$ha
"Livin' it Up" Ja Rule

Just Google It

"Google it".  That is a phrase that everyone says.  You can find everything about anything on Google.  This is a company that has marketed so successfully, and has taken over the entire internet, and debatably the world! Google is not just a website anymore...it's a verb, it's what you do.  Countless times I have searched Google to solve arguments with friends, and i can't help but wonder how it got to be such a phenomenon? If we "google it" we believe it.  It has become the source of truth in the eyes of the massives.    But how? How did Google get my brain to the point where, it is the first thing I think of when I think of the internet? How is it the only website I really think of when I do a search? How does it surpass, Yahoo, and Bing, and whatever other search engines there are? Google it. It's crazy. Whatever "it" is, they have done it.

The Next Bachelorette

Ashley H from this last season of The Bachelor (Brad Womack's season) has been announced as the new bachelorette!  I am a little worried about the choice that was made, because even though I liker her, she seems to have some issues as far as relationships and commitment.  She very much reminds me of the way that Brad was the first time around.  Maybe she has changed, maybe that whole experience taught her to open up and really let someone in.  I hope so.  This next season is bound to be fun and drama filled.  I am very curious to see how it will play out.  The next season of The Bachelorette begins Monday May 23 9:00-100pm on ABC!

Now Class What Have we Learned?

You would think a guy like Chris Brown who was already exposed to terrible publicity due to the fact that he beat up his girlfriend to the point where her whole face was a hot mess, would learn not to explode into violent fits of rage...you would think.  Oh no, for guys like Chris Brown it takes beating your girlfriend, and then freaking out at a news studio (Good Morning America to be exact).  Chris Browns latest display of malicious behavior included throwing a chair into the mirror at his dressing room, and yelling at the top of his lungs to the point where he "scared hair and makeup people and security had to be called" (Yahoo News).  Now, Chris is that anyone someone already under heavy scrutiny should behave? Come on, if you can't play nice with others than you won't be able to play at all! What a loser!

Top Rated Movie On Itunes

Right now, The Fighter is the top rated movie on Itunes.  I saw it when it was out in theaters and I thought it was amazing! Christian Bale had an amazing performance, and Mark Wahlberg was hot! If you haven't seen it already, you have got to check out the download on Itunes! Below, I have attached the synopsis of what the movie is all about
( I got if from IMDb.com)!

"As a welterweight from the wrong side of the tracks, Dickie Eklund is the pride of working class Lowell, Massachusetts. Living in his shadow is his half-brother and sparring partner Micky Ward. It's part of the Irish pride to let Dickie lead the way and win a championship belt first. However, after suffering a humiliating defeat to Sugar Ray Leonard, Dickie plunges into a nightmare of crack addiction, violence and prison. His family's hopes are crushed in the wake of Dickie's demise. Like a real life Rocky, Micky fights on his own terms and pulls his family out of despair with his meteoric rise in the ring. Freshly paroled Dickie finds redemption training his little brother, now known as Irish Micky Ward, for his Welterweight Championship bout with Shea Neary."

Reality Tv: A Paradox

I found this online, it is hilarious.  This is reality tv!
Reality TV has become more and more mainstream, much more common over the past few years.  When I think about shows like "The Real World", "Laguna Beach", "The Hills", "America's Next Top Model", "The Real Housewives of Miami", I can see how reality has taken over completely.  Today I finally decided to cave in and see what "Jersey Shore" was all about.  All that happens on the show, is people hook up with each other, cheat on each other, fight with each other, and drink all day.  I was confused.  I don't know anyone in the world who really gets to live a life like that, free of any responsibility, not have a job, or pay rent, and still get to go out and party all night. To me, I see reality tv as a paradox because it is completely the opposite of anything in actual reality.  To tell you the truth, I'm not sure there is any reason why I watch a lot of these shows except that I find it hilarious, and it makes me realize how great and true my life actually is. Plus, making fun is fun!

The Bachelor...Who Will He Choose?Part Two (Spoiler Alert)

Brad chose Emily! I was so glad that Brad chose Emily, but it did seem sort of obvious.  From the very beginning, I could tell that he would probably end up with her.   I feel so terrible for Chantal because I know that her heart was broken.  But I wish Brad and Emily the very best! I can't wait to see the bachelorette: Ashley H.!!!!

Radio Commute

Step one of my usual morning routine: Alarm sounds.  I open one eye to see what time is it (because it must be a mistake, I still have several long hours of sleep left), I realize that I do in fact need to get up.  I mutter something impossible to understand under my breath as I curse the red numbers that tell me it is 5:00 am.  I continue to mutter something about how no human being should be forced to live in these harsh conditions, my life sucks and why does school have to start so early? Quickly now, I shower and grab a pop tart and head out to my car.  I realize I forgot my keys, and complain about the alarm clock and why it's the alarm clocks stupid fault that I forgot my keys, and head back up the stairs, to grab my keys.
I then begin my morning commute on the 210 E..  By now I am nothing but a grouch, but I tune in to KIIS Fm.  I love listening to KIIS Fm because even though on American Idol I find Ryan Seacrest to be the most annoying human being on the planet, I do love listening to Ryan on the Radio. Ryan and Allison are hilarious together, and they always have fun and interesting topics to talk about (i.e a man being a bridesmaid in a wedding, and Steven Tyler).  Anyway, suffice it to say, without KIIS Fm, I would never be able to wake up during my drive to school, and I would continue to be a grouch all throughout the day! Hats off to you guys KIIS! Check out KIIS Fm if your in the Los Angeles area on 102.7! Here is a link to their website:http://www.kiisfm.com/main.html

More on Japan

With everything that has been going on in Japan lately following the massive 8.9 earthquake and tsunami, it is hard to believe that the nation of Japan is still going through so much.  Check out this link, and send out your thoughts and prayers to the nation of Japan:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ap_on_bi_ge/as_japan_earthquake_nuclear_crisis

Just A Question

I flip the channel to find something half way decent to watch after plopping down onto the couch after a long day at work. Nothing. So, thinking, somehow it will be different if I surf through all of the channels again (hey I was tired remember?), I look one more time.  I realized that America's Next Top Model is on.  I love photography and so, I thought I could get some good insight into the workflow of fashion photography (that and hello...a girl loves some dramatic television).  I was fascinated by the show.  I loved the extravagant lifestyle the girls got to live, in that huge mansion, with the pool that they never actually swam in, and the amazing places that they got to travel.  But the more I watched, the more uncomfortable...no...unsettled, I began to feel.  I noticed the women.  They were, well...sticks.  I began to be completely confused about how modeling became what it is today.  These women didn't really look anything like the women I know, and they certainly didn't look like me. The question I found myself asking myself over and over again in my mind is...why is it that it has become attractive to be so thin that the person looks visibly unhealthy? I didn't see anything sexy about it.  I didn't see anything but, how many hours those poor girls must spend at the gym, and how calorie counting has destroyed their souls, how they live in constant fear that their career will be stripped away from them because of a piece of pepperoni pizza. Why is skinny so desired? Why is being skinny a direct relation to attractiveness? I mean, it's not like obesity has any rewards, but the overwhelming question that still rings in my mind even now is...just a question: what happened to normal?
Maybe it was out of disgust, maybe it was out of rebellion, but just to get a little bit of normal, after all of my careful thinking and insight into the world, I called for a pizza and after eating that delicious pizza...I went to the gym. There. That was balance. It was normal.

Who's Really In Control?

Latley I have been doing a lot of thinking about the media, and about the government.  Honestly, I feel like the news is always so negative, and dramatic, and it is virtually impossible to find a news channel that is unbiased and that just tells the people the truth. I the government probably has so many people wrapped around their fingers in the media that we only see, what they say we can see.  There is so much propaganda, and honestly I really do wonder how much is really being kept from us.  I wonder how much the truth is being bent, slanted, ignored, and stretched?  What can we, the people believe, and what can't we? This system is created such that the rich get richer, the poor stay poor, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.  We have men and women fighting in a war, and have no idea what really is happening there, or what really are the reasons why we are there.
The problem is we believe it.  We eat up their lies, in fact, we welcome them, we thank them.  We are blind sheep following the rest of the sheep right to the wolf's mouth.  We have created the problem because we are too easy to fool.  They pull the wool over our eyes and we can not stop it, because we are unaware. The question is: who is really in control? The answer? Well...let's just say knowledge is power.

The Bachelor...Who Will He Choose?

This season of the Bachelor has proven to be wild, crazy, entertaining, and perhaps even the best season so far! From all of the crazy drama with Michelle, and Rachel and Melissa, to everything that went down between Brad and Ashley H. I have enjoyed this season throughly.
The thing about this season, that I find truly fascinating, is that the two remaining women, Emily and Chantal O. are neck to neck in the battle to win the love of Brad Womack.  I myself am even torn about who he should choose.  I mean, last season I knew that I wanted Tenley to win, and the season before that I knew that I wanted Melissa to win, but this season I can't even begin to say.  Both seem like they would fit perfectly with Brad.
Emily is the sweet, wonderful, innocent, enjoyable woman that Brad is looking for.  She has a genuine character about her and he knows that love with her really is the forever, deep meaningful kind of love.  He wants to be a part of a family and he is ready to have a daughter and love her so.
Chantal brings out an excitement in him, he is more comfortable around her being who he is, and they have fun.  The seem to be on the same page in life and want to have fun together and go out together.  They have a natural, playful and romantic chemistry that seems to be reciprocated amongst one another.  I CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL MONDAY TO SEE WHO HE CHOOSES! TUNE IN TO ABC MONDAY AT 8!

Pierce is...not politically correct

The show Community is one of the most hilarious shows on television! Pierce is one of the characters on the show, and he happens to be one of the most rude, ignorant, bigoted person ever.  A hilarious quote from this weeks episode by him:

(To the only African-American woman in the group):

Pierce: Shirley, we both know that you and I are the    most hated in the group.

Shirley: We do?

Pierce: And since in my absence, you are the black sheep, or I'm sorry, thats offensive...black swan...
Pierce just knows no boundaries!
